The restaurant serves Mediterranean, Italian and Indian food. Since the restaurant is located in a busy area where people from different cultures visit to buy food. The restaurant has no seating area therefore it operates only on take away basis. Though restaurant holds a good reputation however new entrants, presence of large number of other restaurants and no seating area are some of the key limitation which is effecting on the business profitability. In order to grow profitability the restaurant has conducted a survey which revealed that most of the customer would like to have food delivered in their offices so they dont need to leave their workplace. On the basis of survey results the Lunch Box Restaurant management is interested in E-Comm erce system which would enable their customers to select/choose food for their lunch and to be delivered to their offices Required: 1. Critically assess the risks of linking business systems to the internet. 2. Explain the importance of protecting the intellectual property of an organisation.3. Critically discuss what security measures Lunch Box Restaurant need to take in order to protect its e- Commerce system. Answers: 1. Critical Assessment of risk of linking business system to the internet If the company Lunch Box link their business system with the internet, following risk can occur that affect badly with the business process. These are Unauthorized Disclosure: When the company linking the business system to the internet, they have to share information and most importantly share the information of electric transaction. It may have high risks because the company has to transmitting the transaction without proper internet security (Dutta et al. 2012). Hackers can intercept the transmission and gather information of customers details such as credit or debit card details. It may lose customer loyalty for Lunch Box. Data Alternation: It will be also a major risk when Lunch Box linked their business system with the internet. When the company implement e-commerce in their business they share or transmit information over network that has huge risk of data accident. Spoofing: The company first introduce e-commerce website for business that means they involves low cost and professional looking websites. Therefore, hackers of cyber theft has wide range of opportunities to make a duplicate websites that looks like Lunch Boxs website and access customer information such as bank details. It may create high risk for business of Lunch Box. 2. Explanation the importance of protecting the intellectual property of an organisation According to Waser (2012), in business intellectual property has to be protected due to growth of business. In business, intellectual property is considered wide range of areas such as products, services, processes, etc. Apart from that, Venkatesh et al. (2012) argued that business benefited from the internet. Therefore, organisation has to protect their own intellectual property in order to increase busyness. Following are the importance of protecting intellectual property in business Entry barriers: Davenport (2013) suggested that intellectual property helps the business in generating entry barriers as well as capturing the business value for consumers in a particular target market. Goodwill: Intellectual property or trademark is unique for every business. Trademark is helping in leading consumers attraction to the original products. Counterfeiting: This is a great issue in these days of business. Counterfeit products badly affect to the business of luxury brands (Venkatesh et al. 2012). Therefore, it is very much important to protect the intellectual property in terms of avoiding attack from counterfeit products. 3. Critical discussion on security measurement for Lunch Box Restaurant in order to protect its e-commerce system In order to protect the e-commerce sites of Lunch Box Restaurant, following steps have to be maintained by the information technology department of the company Step 1: Lunch Box Restaurant has to involve encryption technology with RSS algorithm during the scrambling or converting. It helps in making unintelligible for every aspects for the recipients. Step 2: Organisation has to involve authentication in their e-commerce site. It helps in protecting the business intellectual property. Step 3: Need to involve Secure Socket layer digital certificates in order to make the certificate online.
